Rorschach "Ink Blot" Cake Tutorial

Friday, August 14, 2015

This cake has been on my "Secret Cake bucket list" for a long time. I've always been obsessed with the idea of creating a Rorschach Ink blot cake since I watched Mondo Guerra on project runway create a capsule collection based on the test. The tests are known the world over and have been used as inspiration for fashion, art and now CAKE!

The Rorschach inkblot test, the Rorschach technique, or simply the inkblot test) is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both. Some psychologists use this test to examine a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning. It has been employed to detect underlying thought disorder, especially in cases where patients are reluctant to describe their thinking processes openly.[4] The test is named after its creator, Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach. What I love about this cake is it is so unexpected, bold and oddly beautiful. It is also one of the easier cakes I have ever made. I could see quirky couples wanting this design for their wedding cakes, or psychology majors wanting this design on graduation or birthday cakes.

I created a short PDF. tutorial on how I created this cake, you can also view the tutorial on Cakes Decor. I hope you enjoy it.
